I would like to bring my sons to get their teeth checked out. I’m not employed right now due to medical reasons. So therefore I don’t have medical or dental benefits for them. Can I still bring them? If I have to pay, can I pay in installments? Please let me know. Thank you. Or you can reach me on my cell at 780-966-9295.

HI Doreen, Thanks for your question. We are a blog (and not affiliated/part of the U of A Dental clinic) so your questions can best be answered by the clinic itself. I believe they primarily serve those with dental ’emergencies’ and not regular checkups. Please use the contact information above to inquire. They may direct you to other resource. Depending on how old your children are, you may be able to take them to SHINE clinic. There are also dentists who may allow you to pay in installments – you would have to ask. There are also cheaper dental treatments available at the U of A’s ‘Open Wide Dental clinic’ (not the hospital, the dental school) and some dentists have an annual ‘free’ or ‘cheap’ day. When we find out about these we post the information. I hope this is somewhat helpful to you. If you are unemployed you may be elligible for Alberta Works Health Benefits, which has a program for dental care through Alberta Works.
