What should I do for work? Job and Career Interest Assessments

A good place to start is the ALIS (Alberta Learning Information Service) Website. You have to sign up using an email address to use their online self assessments, but it is worthwhile. ALIS offers:

Know Yourself – do computer quizzes that will help you learn about what type of work you would like, what kind of environment would would like to work in, what areas you are intelligent in (e.g. there is more to being smart than just I.Q.!), what abilities you have, what your interests are, and what you really want out of your ideal future.

Explore Options: talk to people and read about the occupational options you’re considering and, in some cases, try out those occupations.

Get Ready: compare and choose an occupational option, find out about the requirements and identify challenges and ways to overcome them.

Take Action: identify tasks involved in pursuing your occupational option, create a timeline and keep yourself motivated to move forward.

You can also get advice and support from a Career Advisor along the way.
